Skate Sizing

Choosing the correct skate size is a very important task and usually even more important than choosing the skates model! All high-quality skates will have a break in period and would adjust over time to the skater’s feet. Some will take longer and some shorter, but while you want to have a comfortable ride you do not want to have the skates too loose… The correct fit will determine much more than just the comfort - it will define how much control, power transfer, and agility you would have while skating, and even would affect the balance.

While various skating styles and skaters themselves have different preferences, below are the general instructions of how to determine the perfect fit for your new skates.

WHAT SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Most of inline and roller skates are manufactured and sold in European sizes (EU), so your US / UK sizing could be a wrong idea to use due to the conversion inaccuracies. Furthermore, even if you know your European sizing, every shoe and skate manufacturer has a slightly different fit and sizing, therefore your standard shoe size might not assure a perfect fit but that is the best way to estimate your skate size. In any case, the inline and roller skate size should be either equal to your shoe size or no more than one size up or down from it.

Based on our experience, the best way to determine your skate size is to take a look at your current pair of skates and/or running shoe labels for MM / CM / MP / MONDO numbers. These numbers are indicating the maximum foot length that will fit into the pair, while MM shows the measurement in millimeters and CM/MP/MONDO is centimeters. Having these numbers along with the EU sizes from these shoes, you will be able to determine the size of the skates that you need by looking into brand or model specific sizing chart (usually located in the Sizing tab under the skates photos or as one of the product photos). If cannot be located, please send us an inquiry and we gladly will help you out!

Important: Many shops are recommending measuring your feet to determine your skate size, but we have found that this leads to too many mistakes and do not recommend that. If after following the instructions above you are finding yourself stuck in between two sizes, you could measure your feet according to the directions below. In this case, your shoe size is still the defining factor, so if the measurement is showing more than one size up or down, something is wrong with the measurement! If your foot is wider than average, please go one size up. Usually, Seba, FR, and Adapt skates fit wider than average, Powerslide and K2 average, Flying Eagle and Rollerblade average to narrow...

Still, want to measure your feet? Here is how to do it:

You’ll need paper, pen, a flat wall and, if possible, a buddy to help. It’s best to measure your feet later in the day after you have been on them for a few hours to account for swelling.
Find a hard floor with a flat wall. Tape a piece of paper down so that it touches the wall. Stand on the paper in bare feet, with your heel just touching the wall.
Have your friend take a book and place it so that it just touches the tip of your longest toe. Mark the spot where the book meets your toe. Do this with both feet and use the larger of the two measurements. Measure your foot length in millimeters, if possible. If you measure in inches, be sure to measure in 16ths of an inch.
Choose your size from the manufacturers sizing chart. The “Max Foot Length” is the longest foot measurement that will fit into that size. The US Men’s column lists the sizes found on the box.

SIZING FOR CONTROL OVER COMFORT

Our sizing advice is targeted to a freestyle or dance skater who wants a very snug fit in their skate to enjoy maximum control. Our instructions will give a fit that prioritizes control over comfort. If comfort is a higher priority, or if you have an especially wide or oddly shaped foot, you may do well to choose a slightly larger size. If you are near the boundary between two sizes, you would probably be better off to go with the larger size in case you prefer comfort over control.

Notes about Width
In general, the Plastic Boot skates with a built-in liner have a narrower fit through the foot, while the boots with a removable liner and soft boots have a somewhat wider fit. The Carbon is a bit wider through the toe box than the plastic boot skates because the carbon fiber boot has less flex. As a rule of thumb, skates with built-in liners and "regular" liners will have less adjustment room.

The GTO model has been a pillar in the Adapt line up since its original release in 2016.
The model has evolved over time, but has stayed true to its original values; fast, responsive and beautiful, a true representative of the ‘GTO’ badge.

Inspired by the Adapt Superleggera, the 2022 GTO model has gotten several updates.

The Classic GTO now comes with a replaceable heel/ankle liner piece. The liner piece ensures a better fit for the ankle, prevents pressure points from the cuff area and can be replaced when worn down, expanding the lifetime of the skates even further!

The liner piece can also be removed before heatmolding the shell, to prevent foam compression when pushing out pressure points.

The tongue has been redesigned with a pressure-dividing patch to prevent lacebite.

The GTO can now be purchased with an optional (removable) 45 degrees powerstrap for increased heel lock (pictured). Especially for skaters with flat feet or a low arch the powerstrap can improve the fit significantly.

Showcasing our new logo in a classic way, the GTO comes with an embossed logo on the tongue and the infamous red embroidered GTO logo on the back of the skate.

Other features:

The GTO is made with our trusty nubuck 1.3mm leather. The supple but strong nubuck forms to your feet straight out of the box and will only fit better over time. The new lining system is made out of airmesh lining for comfort and an overall great fit. The nubuck, airmesh lining and waxed laces work together greatly to get your skates fitting like a glove. The new optional removable 45 degrees powerstrap can take the fit of your GTO to the next level.

The optional 3d SLS boltprotector (pictured) is mounted on the topstrap bolts to prevent the bolts and strap from getting damaged when falling over. The boot comes standard with a nubuck boltprotector.

The GTO shell is a Hyperskate diolene shell, finished with extra layers of black twill 3k carbon for improved responsiveness and a dark look. Like all Hyperskate models, the GTO features the Quattromount. The Quattromount is the most versatile mount in the industry as it fits both 165mm and 195mm frames as well as the Symetrics Quattro frames. The mount also provides an extremely low centre of gravity, with the wheels as close to your feet as possible.

You can choose between several different setups to create your perfect Hyperskate. On the one hand we offer the Symetrics Quattro S frames, on the other hand we offer several variants of the Symetrics Hyperframes.

Unlike regular frames, the Quattro S frame is mounted on the outside of the frame, using 4 M6 bolts. This greatly improves powertransfer and overall strength of the frame. The Quattro S frame is CNC machined out of a solid block of 7000 aluminium and comes in several wheel configurations (front to back):

– hi-lo setup 80-80-84-84

– hi-lo setup 84-84-90-90

– hi-lo setup 90-90-100-100

The smaller wheels in the front give optimal maneuverability, while the bigger back wheels provide a faster ride. Attention: this is not a rockered frame!

Also available is the Quattro R frame with a wheel configuation of 110-100-100-110 (can be found under Marathon Series)

The Symetrics Hyperframe is available in 4×80, 4×84, 4×90 and 3×110 variants. The Hyperframe is CNC cut out of 7075 billet aluminium and features a perfectly centered mount to create the ultimate feeling of control. The completely intact frame walls and triple bridge make sure that the Hyperframe is the strongest freeskate frame on the market.

Also available are the 4×100 and 4×110 Marathon 195mm variants (can be found under Marathon Series).

The Hyperskate GTO is completed with the Symetrics Superfast wheels (available in 80mm, 84mm, 90mm, 100mm and 110mm) and the new Symetrics 7-ball ABEC9 bearings.

Adapt Sizing Chart

Adapt skates fit like a tailored shoe. While in most skates people need to take one size bigger than they wear in shoes, in Adapt you will need your actual shoe size. Of course, measuring your feet can be really difficult, so if you really are in doubt, feel free to contact us about this. If you have measured your feet and are unsure of the results you’ve got, please contact us as well. Overall you can take one size smaller in Adapts compared to other skates. If you have already downsized by toe-cutting your skate or using a thinner liner in it, you will not be able to go down one size.
