Perfect for Freeride, Fitness, Urban, and Powerblading.
The 2021 GTO has got several upgrades:
- The padding in the heel pocket is upgraded for improved fit
- The nubuck skin is reinforced with ballistic nylon to prevent leather stress around eyelets
- The internal Quattro mounting plates are now made of aluminum instead of steel. This is not only lighter, it also gives an overall better looking finish.
- The bottom 3 eyelet sets are now wider apart to allow for more pull on the laces
- Softfoam added to top of cuff area for improved comfort and fit
Airmesh lining provides more comfort and cushioning, while Onsteam lining provides increased responsiveness and a direct feeling.
The GTO is still made with our trusty nubuck 1.3mm leather. In 2020 we switched from 2mm to 1.3mm nubuck. The thinner material means the skin is just a little bit more flexible, which results in a better fit. While the older GTO model needed some break in time, the GTO 2021 forms to your feet straight out of the box. In short, the nubuck v2 leather provides the same strength and durability but with a better fit. The straps are also single layered to increase fit and comfort.
Lining material:
OnSteam lining is a thin but resistant material that was specifically designed to be used in sport-specific shoes. It gives great responsiveness and a direct feeling. This material will take your skate to the next level.
We recommend this material for skaters that are looking for the most responsive option. It is only recommended for advanced skaters and heat molding is advised to ensure a perfect fit.

In order for you to understand and appreciate what the ADAPT Hyperskate GTO is, you’ll need to understand it’s creator, Pieter Wijnant and his love for Hypercars, but before I get into that, let me give you a background on my skating style.
First, let me state right off the bat I am not an aggressive skater, or a slalom skater, and definitely not a recreational skater. The type of skater that I am is mostly fitness, speed, and a little bit of crazy… all in that order. I am also a motor/petrol-head. What I look for in a skates is what I look for in all of my cars; performance, precision, handling, all of which are found in the way Pieter builds these Hyperskates.
The moment I took my GTO Speciale (2019) out of the box, my first impression was how solid they felt. Is like you are sitting in your brand new Corvette for the first time; you sink into the bucket seat, you touch the steering wheel, and the way the car feels around you, is just… solid. That’s how these skates felt in my hand. And then you start looking at the beautiful workmanship; that gorgeous high-end all-black-out leather, the understated yet very effective use of the high-low set up, the subtle Z/GTO engraving on the back; the whole skate just radiates power.
The use of materials, the durability of the Nubuck leather, the carbon fiber layers, the lining, the Hyperframes, they all combine into a work of art. Even the waxed laces on these skates are, without doubt, among the best on the market. I must admit I’m constantly fighting the urge to hug these skates and call them “my precious”.
I took these skates to the rink (since I live in South Dakota and the weather seasons out here is limited to early winter, winter, more winter and road construction); and my goal is to have them broken in by the time the snow clears and I can take them outside, where they belong. I must admit, the break-in process was something I was expecting, but still necessary . Heat molding them will speed things up, but I still went thru some growing pains before they fully molded around my foot.
Be warned, it is a stiff ride; best comparison is if you go from driving a Cadillac to a tracked-tuned Corvette. The use of the Nubuck leather and Diolene shell, with that unbelievable Symmetrics Quattromount frame gives you a stiff “ride”, but the responsiveness is crazy quick, and the control is downright unbelievable.
Since, at the moment, I’m limited to where I skate, I use the indoor rink for mostly speed skating (when I’m allowed); and that’s one of the types of skating styles my GTO is made for. I keep comparing them to performance cars because… well… they are performance skates. A great example is when I take the apex line with my GTO. With other skates I was very limited. Even when I upgraded the frames on my old skates there was always a “wiggle” feel when I take the turn too fast. The frames on my other skates are just not strong enough, like taking a fast turn in a car that’s not built for it; you fishtail, lose traction, spin out and hopefully you won’t hit anything before you come to one scary stop. I needed something better.
With the Adapt you quickly power transfer into position for the turn, push for more speed, drift into the Apex line, and then push for more speed in one solid fully controlled motion. This is where the high-low set up is use to it’s full potential. The combination of 90A 2x84mm Adapt Superfast wheels in the front, and 2x90mm wheels at the back, with the Quattromount frame gives you the stability and traction you’ll need to drift into those tight turns instead of eating it. These skates are not for the faint of heart, and although they are pricey with they way they are built, every penny is worth it.
The Adapt Hyperskates GTO Speciale is the vision of someone who thrives for perfection. Whom by looking at the new 2020 Adapt line up, is constantly pushing the boundaries to create the ultimate skate. There is a mad-genius at work here, and because of that, anything you’ll get from Adapt is equally mad.

Hi,
I bought a pair of these in a size 41 with the 4x84mm frame. I have a wider foot and normally have to go up a few sizes with powerslide (43-44), but there was lots of width in the adapt and that let me get a more precise fit. If you visit the adapt website there are templates that you can print to sketch your foot on.
The skates are very beautiful, even more so than the pictures. The craftsman ship is obvious. The quality of the leather is excellent, they even smell great! I have never had a skate lace up so nicely. The leather is supple around the laces and the waxed laces hold the tension and allow for precision lacing. The cuff of the boot is extremely stiff, and I am still breaking it in after 25+ km skating in these.
The 4×84 frame is a great length to allow power transfer and still have maneuverability. It is very stiff and has excellent power transfer. The matte finish on it is also quite beautiful.
If you are considering buying this boot to use an endless frame with it, I recommend that you contact endless and discuss with them. I learned from them that the endless frame does not fit as well on the adapt boots as it does on Seba/FR products; it tends to sit a bit too far forward or back for their preference (but it is still possible). They can send you pictures.
For the wheels, I do find that they are a bit too hard (90). They are fast, but this isn’t the most comfortable ride when the pavement is rough, so for my next wheels I will look at 85a. If you are ordering the skate, you can maybe ask for a custom order for different wheels.
Overall I am very satisfied with the Adapt GTO, it is a truely beautiful skate.
